‘Marriage’
WASHINGTON – Over 300 prominent Republicans have signed a brief submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court calling for the legalization of same-sex “marriage” nationwide. The amicus brief, or friend of the court brief, was led by former Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Ken Mehlman, who also served as manager of George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election campaign.
“One of the points that I hope people appreciate when they read the brief is that supporting marriage equality is, in fact, the conservative position,” Mehlman told the Boston Globe
The brief argues that the 14th Amendment requires equal protection, which means that homosexuals should be permitted then to marry each other. “Although amici hold a broad spectrum of socially and politically conservative, moderate, and libertarian views, amici share the view that laws that bar same-sex couples from the institution of civil marriage, with all its attendant profoundly important rights and responsibilities, are inconsistent with the United States Constitution’s dual promises of equal protection and due process,” it reads.
Besides Mehlman, others who signed the brief include
former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani,
former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge,
former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman,
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker,
retired U.S. Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal,
former Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz,
two aides to 2008 presidential candidate John McCain and
his daughter Meghan, and
several aides who served Mormon presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who ran for office in 2012.
Dan Blum, the 2011-2012 campaign manager for Scott Walker,
U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois,
U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida,
former U.S. Rep. Rick Lazio of New York,
former U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis of South Carolina and
political commentator C.E. Cupp
were also among the over 300 signees
As previously reported, in 2013, approximately 130 Republican leaders signed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court expressing their support for same-sex “marriage” as the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was being deliberated by the nine justices on the bench.
Those signing at that time included include Stephen Hadley, former security adviser to George W. Bushormer justice department official James Coney, former commerce secretary Carlos Gutierrez, and former Reagan budget director David Stockman. Former New Jersey governor Christine Todd Whitman, former Massachusetts governors William Weld and Jane Wift, and former California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman. The list of signees grew to over 300 with this week’s submitted brief.
As previously reported, possible presidential candidate Mike Huckabee told the American Family Association (AFA) in October that if Republicans continue to give in on same-sex “marriage”, he—and other Christians—will leave the party.
“[I]f the Republicans want to lose guys like me and a whole bunch of still God-fearing, Bible-believing people, go ahead and just abdicate on this issue, and go ahead and say abortion doesn’t matter, either. Because at that point, you lose me, I’m gone,” he declared. “I’ll become an independent. I’ll start finding people that have guts to stand. I’m tired of this.”

God is NOT obligated to 'bless' or protect America when this nation blatantly disregards and disobeys. Punishment for the sins of the 'leaders' flows down to the people. What the people ALLOW - as being done currently in this nation - will determine their fate.

If you take separation of Church and State seriously, then it is obvious that the government has no business issuing "Marriage Licenses" . Marriage is a religious term, so let the Church take care of it. Let each Church decide what they will. If you want to attend a church that recognizes same sex couples, then you should be free to do so, if you instead wish to not support same sex marriage, then you shouldn't have to. It should be your decision, NOT THE GOVERNMENTS.
If the Government insists on the records so it can control the population, then maybe they should be issuing a "License of Co-habitation". That way, someone that is not religious doesn't have to get a Marriage License to be "legal", and Christians don't have to be insulted by allowing someone to be "Married" that doesn't fit the profile spelled out by the bible.
However, I have to ask, where does this go from here? Are people going to be able to legally marry their dog or cat?
We need someone to drop a dead pig on the White House, and everyone needs to bury some bacon on their property and put up a sign to let them know it.
Please tell me why ANYONE needs a license of any kind! God has given us FREE WILL. Only our jailers/rulers demand licenses. God LOVES.....never JUDGES. Our jailers/ rulers JUDGE......never LOVE. We are so programmed to be ruled, we never question...why? LOVE is LOVE - there is no difference between sexes in God's sight, why should it be ours?
A Government becomes a dictatorship when it steps over boundaries......A Marriage is determined by the participants, and enjoined by witnesses, it is not a ceremony that is institutionalized by Churches or Governments......
A Nation is determined by the standards set from the beginning, America is founded on certain principles and morals, and if they are violated, in any way, she is said to then be.......tyrannical.......she breeches her own Laws, and she has allowed herself to be violated.......
In a free democracy, the People are the Government, when a Government usurps the People, she is said to be........a Dictatorship!
America has violated her first principles, thus she has subjected herself to Socialism, she has forsaken her values by thinking she is Liberal, and under a false delusion, you have the right to self determination.....self same marriages, Gay rights, abortion, and so forth.........whereas, these things are not conservative, and should not be acceptable in our communities..
A Republic is a Conservative system......whereas, a Democratic is Liberal, or, the total opposite, so when a Republican is said to have " come out of the closet " He or she, never was.......they Lied, and that is the simple truth of the matter!

Anon4, If God is Love, and his Law is Mercy, both equate to the same thing......because in his "Mercy" he does Judge, and He will remove..........to say otherwise means, that He will have to apologize for Sodom and Gomorrah, the Great Flood, the destruction of Tyre, Babylon, The Ottoman Empire, Roman and Grecian Empires.........The Diaspora of His people, floods, fires, quakes, ......When Countries abandon moral values, especially America, Britain etc.....they will go down ...........
