jackt There is no enough
support left for Malarky and those around him are fleeing like rats on a
burning ship. I mean anything is possible but I just don't see him staying on
short of outright declaring his dictatorship as the one and only supreme
leader. The votes are just not there for him..
Phillyman: Now we have a carrier headed that direction which ups the level of US involvement. I still cannot understand why there is no media about the government about to turn over except the article about MPs immunity being lifted.

US orders aircraft carrier into Gulf over Iraq crisis: Pentagon

Washington (AFP) - The United States has ordered an aircraft carrier, the USS George H.W. Bush, into the Gulf in response to the crisis in Iraq, the Pentagon said Saturday.
"The order will provide the commander-in-chief
additional flexibility should military options be required to protect American
lives, citizens and interests in Iraq," Rear Admiral John Kirby, the
Pentagon spokesman, said.
Ordered by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, the move comes amid calls for air strikes to blunt a lightning offensive by Sunni Islamic militants that threatens Baghdad and the country's Shiite-led government.
US President Barack Obama said Friday the United States would not send in US ground troops but that he was weighing all other options.
The Bush is being accompanied by two other warships -- the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea and the guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun, Kirby said in a statement.
The carrier's movement into the Gulf from the north Arabian Sea was expected to be completed by the end of the day, he said.
"American naval presence in the Arabian Gulf continues to support our longstanding commitments to the security and stability of the region," he added.
Kimberley: Just a little sidenote from DA. from an article about Maliki trying to get SOE powers, that he was not given those by the Parliament, and since it was not a judicial matter, He just decided to "give them to himself"......No stoning please, just other info....take it or leave it...
HandOverFist: Also from DA: From Zaid al Ali -
"After Iraq Parliament refuses to grant Maliki additional emergency powers, Maliki grants them to himself anyway. Maliki once again proves that the Iraqi constitution isn't worth the paper it's printed on. I can't believe we wasted so much time writing it." http://www.zaidalali.com/
KJWayne at June 14, 2014 at 5:47 AM It's now Saturday in Iraq and in about TEN HOURS Maliki and his goons will be OUT of a job! Twelve pm on the 14th of June, Iraqi time!
Candy: Well it's 4 PM CST, and 5 PM EST, so that is RIGHT NOW!!
Candy: Will this actually GO THROUGH? Can he DO this?!
Mike: Hey guys, Maliki is in charge of the caretaker government until Parliament selects a new PM. We need the Federal Court to ratify the votes, the NA still needs to nominate their choice for PM and Parliament has to either confirm or reject their decision.
Unless Parliament is going to use the Mosul incident as a reason to expedite the process, it's at least two weeks before Maliki is completely out of the GOI.
Mike: Yes, Candy, Maliki has proven over and over again that he has little regard for the constitution. He pretty much does what he wants in Iraq because the opposition has been so inept.
We need the NA to hop to it and nominate a new man (Chalabi) and get him confirmed as fast as possible. Hopefully Najafi will retain his position and Barzani will become the next President of Iraq.
I wouldn't put anything past Maliki at this point, even declaring his own state of emergency. It doesn't make it legal, but when has Maliki ever followed the letter of the law when it doesn't benefit him?
Tlar: FLASH NEWS. Maliki appoints himself premier of Iraq. His Excellency wants to be called king and everybody to bow in his presents. Can he do this? NO.
This is about as effective as declaring your own state of emergency. So who listens to him anymore? Certainlty not the opposition.

This fool can declare unilaterarily anything he wants.
No one is paying anything more than lip service to him until he is gone.
The people of importance are checking in with the opposition for clues to their marching orders just like Dulaimi did today. tlar
