America is a big
country. That being so, there’s always a chance that a few people here
despise gun owners for reasons other than a need to compensate for deep
self-loathing, a debilitating sense of their own inadequacy, or a desire
to feel morally or intellectually superior to others.
However, such exceptions to the rule are not the subject of Charles C. W.
Cooke’s disturbing article published on Thursday by The National Review.
As Cooke explained, Facebook and Twitter followers of the anti-gun
organizations Moms Demand Action, the Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence,
and GunFreeZone.net are encouraging one another to call the police
whenever they see someone carrying a gun in public. Some of them
recommend alleging that a crime is taking place and express their hope
that the police will open fire on the unsuspecting gun owner once they
arrive.

In what appears
to be an attempt to upstage Louis Farrakhan’s assertion that Ebola is an
invented “race-targeting weapon,” MSNBC and gun control organization
States United are pointing the finger at NRA for the ongoing public
health crisis. According to their “logic,” NRA’s opposition to Obama’s
nomination of anti-gun activist Vivek Murthy as Surgeon General has
exacerbated the Ebola crisis, as Americans supposedly have nowhere else
to turn for reliable information on the outbreak.
In an article titled, “How the NRA is making the Ebola crisis worse,”
MSNBC lamented, “thanks to NRA power and Senate cowardice, we are left
with no surgeon general during a time when, we not only have Ebola
arriving on our shores, but are also dealing with the mysterious
Enterovirus, which is infecting and contributing to the deaths of children
in the U.S.” Likewise, States United tweeted, “Ebola now in the US.
Surgeon General should be leading the way on public health education but
NRA stalled nomination. No outrage?”

On Tuesday, five
weeks before voters in Washington State will decide whether to require
“universal” background checks on firearm transfers, gun control advocate
Mark Kelly lied on national television about how many such transactions
occur without a background check. Asked by CNN, Kelly said (at 3:30 in
the video), “right now 60 percent of all gun sales go--occur--with a
background check. Why do we allow the 40 percent, the other 40 percent,
to happen?”
Kelly and his wife, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, are the
co-founders of the gun control group, Americans for Responsible
Solutions. On their group’s website, they make the “40 percent” claim in
its most common form, saying “up to 40 percent of all gun transfers . . .
take place without a background check.”

federal and state elections. These candidate ratings can now be found at
the NRA-PVF website. Before casting your vote in the general election on

visit this site to learn who will best protect your Second Amendment
rights and hunting heritage.
Be sure to encourage your family, friends, fellow gun owners and
sportsmen in your state to support and vote for pro-gun/pro-hunting
candidates on or before Tuesday, November 4.
|
With NRA-PVF’s
grades and endorsements now posted, you are able to find out which
candidates in your area support our rights. For some of you, there may be
numerous contested races in your state or district. For others, this may
not be the case.
With the national importance of electing a pro-gun majority to the U.S.
Senate and strengthening our support in the House, every gun owner must
be actively involved with our grassroots campaign efforts--regardless of
whether your state or district features a “high profile” race.

It has been
estimated that well-placed campaign signs can account for four percentage
points on Election Day. Think back to the 2000 presidential election,
where 537 votes in Florida separated George W. Bush from Al Gore, and
four percentage points seems like a landslide! While you are focused on
the November 4 election, some gun owners may not be aware of what's at
stake for the future of the Second Amendment on Election Day.
